NORTHCLIFFE junior Olivia Pearson has capped an impressive month with a hole in one at the age of just 14.

Having won two district events, the teenager holed an eight-iron tee shot at her club's short par-three 12th hole.

The ace came on her way to a nett 70 in a ladies medal competition. It was the latest string to her bow after she triumphed in the Bradford Union Girls Championship at Bracken Ghyll, with a net of 75, and then became the Bradford and District under-16 champion, a competition featuring both boys and girls, with a stableford score of 44 points.

Since taking up golf when she was nine, the Heaton-based youngster has come down to a 17-handicap and has played for Yorkshire twice.

Northcliffe are naturally delighted with her progress in what has been a remarkable season for her.

Her dad Mark said: "She has natural ability and has gone from strength to strength. "Northcliffe have really looked after her and brought her on and she has been for coaching with Yorkshire and had lessons from Andrew Hall at Bradford Golf Club.

"She was delighted to win the competitions - the boys weren't happy at being beaten! And she was really excited about getting a hole in one.

"The girl she was playing with, Hannah Chaudry, also hit it close on the same green. From the tee, you can't see the ball rolling into the hole, so when they got there was one on and one had disappeared and they didn't know whose ball had gone in."
