Cleckheaton member Megan Lockett is thrilled after ending her season with a county and country double.

After helping Wales claim only their fourth Home Internationals title in over a century, the 16-year-old was part of the Yorkshire team that won the County Finals crown at Wilmslow a week later.

Megan said: “It has been such a busy two weeks but it has been amazing.

“Just winning the Northern title with Yorkshire was a great achievement but to go on and win the national event was brilliant.

“We had such a good team atmosphere.”

Having played an important part in wins over Kent (7-2) and Warwickshire (5-4), the two handicapper teamed up with Ellie Goodall to win her foursomes 4&3 in the title decider against Lincolnshire on the final day.

She lost her singles 2&1 to an in-form Emma Tipping but still finished two-under par in a high-quality match as Yorkshire edged home 5-4 to win the title for the first time since 2008.

The squad also included fellow Cleckheaton members Megan Clarke and Olivia Hamilton, who didn’t play on this occasion.

Meanwhile, Lockett was delighted to be part of the Wales squad who claimed Home Internationals glory at Scotscraig Golf Club in Dundee in what was her debut at senior international level.

Wales claimed a clean sweep of victories, beating England 6½-2½, Scotland 7-2 and Ireland 5-4.
