Darryl Berry’s Yorkshire side had to settle for second place in the Northern Counties League as Lancashire retained their title in the final round of fixtures.
The Bingley St Ives member was hoping for a last-day twist to end his first year as skipper and his side did what they could with an emphatic win over Cheshire at Lindrick 13-5.
Shipley’s Will Whiteoak continued his impressive county form, combining with Jamie Harrison to win his foursomes clash 2&1 before beating Prestbury’s Fraser McLeod 5&4 in the singles.
However, as expected, Lancashire were too strong for Northumberland, beating them 15-3 at Southport & Ainsdale to be crowned champions with a 100 per cent record.
