Bradford Park Avenue 4 Curzon Ashton 4

BRADFORD hit a stoppage time leveller for a second game on the trot to earn a point at home in a high scoring National North clash with Curzon Ashton.

Following Liam Dickinson’s last gasp leveller at Gainsborough Trinity in their opening game, a late strike from substitute Sanchez Payne four minutes into the six added on gave Park Avenue a second consecutive draw.

The deadlock was broken very early as Ben McKenna netted in the sixth minute following a rapid breakaway.

Avenue keeper Ryan Jones made a smart save and launched a counter attack that ended with McKenna playing a one-two with Chris Sharp before scoring.

Dickinson headed the home side 2-0 up when he got on the end of a free kick awarded for a foul on Sharp.

The visitors hit back almost immediately when Liam Tomsett steered the ball past Jones after being picked out by a through ball.

Iain Howard netted a shot midway through the first half, after two attempts had been blocked by an under pressure Bradford defence, to see the sides going into the break all square.

Bradford boss Alex Meechan made his first change just before the hour mark when Nicky Boshell made way for Payne, but minutes later Nash edged in front from the penalty spot.

Avenue’s former FC Halifax Town defender Shane Killock was guilty of a foul in the area and Paul Ennis drilled the spot kick past Jones.

Another substitute claimed an assist as the home side levelled with Leon Osborne, who had only been on the pitch for six minutes, crossing for Sharp to head home.

The visitors were not finished and former Avenue and Guiseley centre back Danny Hall headed Nash back in front after the home side had conceded a cheap 78th minute corner before the late drama saw the spoils shared.
