Bradford Park Avenue manager Dave Cameron returned from holiday to immediately begin his squad recruitment drive for a tilt at promotion to the Blue Square North.

The gleam on their UniBond Division One North championship trophy has not had time to tarnish and the boss is not allowing the momentum of promotion to the UniBond Premier Division to be lost.

Three players have now put pen to paper and Cameron is expecting another two to follow suit on Friday.

Jamie Tandy spent last season in the Blue Square Premier with Droylsden but has joined former Rhyl team-mates Stuart Graves and Mark Connolly in moving to Avenue.

Cameron said: "Jamie is a left winger, a good young prospect with bags of pace, while I know all about the qualities of Stuart and Mark from their Rhyl days - and these lads are just the start of the building process.

"I have a central defender interested but he is still on contract with a club and until that runs out he won't be able to commit himself. But two of the three strikers I have been talking to should be joining us this Friday.

"One is out of the country on an end-of-season tour and the other is waiting for his contract to run out. He will get his final payment from the club he was with last year and then be a free agent."

Former Farsley, Halifax and Chester striker Ryan Sugden is thought to be one of the ones who will be joining Avenue but they could have lost out to their neighbours in one respect.

Bradford-born forward Carl Ellington is rumoured to be Cameron's third target but it looks like he could be heading for Farsley.

Cameron has not given up on landing all three but "we'll wait and see" was all he would add.

Tandy came through the ranks at Manchester City but was released by the Premier League outfit in 2005. He had trials with Barnsley but failed to gain a contract and joined Droylsden, where he got Conference experience.

Graves and Connolly have turned their backs on possible appearances in the Intertoto Cup with Rhyl, who are in the competition after finishing third in the Principality Welsh Premier League.

Both players are midfielders so if Cameron lands his centre back and at least two strikers he will have strengthened the squad in every outfield area.
