Bradford Park Avenue 3, Armthorpe Welfare 1
Bradford Park Avenue were the first club to reach the semi-finals of this season’s West Riding County Cup when they came from a goal down to earn a comfortable victory at home to lower-league opposition tonight.
Evo-Stik Premier Division outfit Bradford are two steps higher than Northern Counties East League Premier Division Armthorpe Welfare but it was the visitors who took the lead when an early long throw-in caused confusion in the home ranks, allowing Craig Wilkinson to chip the home keeper.
The equaliser came on the stroke of half-time, following good work by Billy Law.
The young forward was enjoying a rare start and, although his shot was parried, Curtis Bernard tucked the rebound home.
Avenue were much the stronger side after the interval and dominated the second half.
They took the lead when Adam Clayton headed in following a 56th-minute Jordan Deacey corner, and they made sure the tie was won seven minutes from time.
Law was again the provider, with Tom Greaves finishing with a bullet of a shot from outside the area.
