Avenue will have to show defensive Steel

Avenue stretched their lead at the top of the UniBond League Premier Division to five points last weekend and they will be looking for another maximum on Saturday.

However, last weekend's victory, which also boosted their goal difference, was almost a foregone conclusion.

Strolling to a 7-0 win against the basement outfit is not quite the same as hosting Stocksbridge PS.

Bradford boss John Deacey said: "Stocksbridge may be in the bottom half of the table but they were early leaders of the division and are always a very tough side to get a result against.

"I have looked at the league stats and they have scored just two goals less than we have and we are the top scorers.

"They have conceded more and have played two games more than us but they obviously know where the net is."

Avenue and their visitors are the only two clubs to have rattled in 60 or more so far this term. Bradford’s 63 is the best, Stocksbridge are not too far behind but have shipped in 20 more than their hosts. A goalless draw at the Horsfall Stadium is highly unlikely.

Deacey had just 12 fully-fit players for last Saturday’s win at Durham City and a few walking wounded filling the bench out. The situation has not improved, despite them having a free midweek "We might have even less for this game," added the Avenue manager. "We are struggling like mad with injuries.

"Mark Hume went over on his ankle at Durham and it was a bad one, and James Knowles is still out so we are thin on the ground for centre halves.

"Simon Baldry, who should be back, and Martin Drury both had ankle injuries, but Matty James is still very doubtful.

"He couldn’t even make the squad last week so it's fingers crossed because he is a player that other teams find difficult to cope with.

"Brett Renshaw, our new signing from Garforth Town, came off the bench when we lost Hume and he did well.

"The trouble is that we can’t judge him on that game because it was a regulation win against the bottom side. This one is against the second-top scorers so our defence will have to be tight."

Good Luck Avenue. Reckon a lot of City fans who are as appalled and disgusted with the total disrespect that's been shown towards McCall, Jacobs and Wetherall, and the complete snidy behaviour of their 'Mike Carpets' joint chairman will like me be considering switching. I've followed City since 1976 and My grandfather was head scout many years before but the time has come for me to follow my dad's old club and leave the 'new' Bradford City and their ways behind. Here's to any recruitment drive for fans. Up the Avenue.

Sad thing is bull, it's the bull**** from the likes of you that is driving the old guard who have stuck with the club year on year and through thick and thin away. Just look at the treatment of McCall, Jacobs and Wetherall. Are they rat's as well? This isn't the club I've supported since 76. When the going got tough you Judas's turned on the very heart of the club who've supported BCFC without condition, namely McCall, Jacobs and Wetherall. Enjoy your scummy new Judas attitudes with your shiny new chairman, you're well suited together. I'll not be the only true City fan who is reassessing his support.

Imbecile.....read any of my posts and you will see that i never wanted McCall, Jacobs or Wetherall replaced. I hoped in my heart of hearts that they would be the one's to get us back on the road to success. I always supported them and their decisions and was annihilated by other posters on here because of that.
Unfortunately, McCall has now left and because of that you want to go and support park ave????

Who's the one supporting his club without condition and who's the one running away like a RAT??????

You make me sick, calling yourself a true City fan and then saying your reassessing your support and you have the nerve to call me a judas.

Enjoy your Unibond league.......and don't come back

Don’t worry I won’t be back. You’ve totally missed the point haven’t you thicko? I don’t care about your posts or your so called support for McCall, Jacobs and Wetherall. Fact is you’ve got blinkers on mate. You want to believe that the Bradford City you supported in the past, the one that had integrity rather than glory seeking at all costs still exists. Well it doesn’t. We’ve got a Chairman (and I don’t include Julian Rhodes in this) who would stoop so low as to target Halifax town fans as possible customers at Valley Parade when they were demoted to the blue square. It was crass. We’ve got a growing minority of fans that have, along with said chairman, forced McCall out and are attempting to do the same to Jacobs and other long serving, loyal, City servants. The sudden influx of cash for loans further outlines the lack of support being given to McCall, his resignation has been a set up since late last season and you know it. So sit, side by side with the Judas’s cheering on a football club that has lost all the integrity and respect it had, sit with your blinkers on and try to forget the reality of the McCall saga and the fact we have a Thatcherite dog eat dog glory seeking chairman. Fact is pal, though it would be wonderful to be as thick as you and able to put the recent past behind me and simply forget the way the very heart of the club was betrayed, I can’t and like many more City fans, am completely disillusioned with the whole sad and sorry state and thus am calling it a day. Good riddance eh?

Thatcherite dog eat dog glory seeking chairman.

Before you continue slating BCFC's chairman for being a glory seeker, you should really have a look at your new teams chairman, Mr Blackburn, who has sacked 2 managers pretty recently, Dave Cameron (not the Tory leader) and Lee Sinnott for going half a dozen games without a win.

Now you can continue with your 1940's mentality and "wasn't it nice back then" but the rest of us are looking into the future, not just at VP but everywhere in football, so if your gonna start crying everytime your manager gets sacked, you had better hope John Deacey gets BPA out of that Unibond division or i'll guarantee you'll be moaning about your Thatcherite glory seeking chairman again, just this time at Horsfall stadium!!!!!

Get into the real world, integrity in football disappeared a long long time ago.

Oh i'm not your pal or a thinko for that matter!!!!
