OLI Johnson has penned a new one-year deal at Bradford Park Avenue, which is sure to delight both the fans and club alike.

Johnson first signed for Avenue on loan in November 2016 before going on to secure a permanent deal in January 2017.

His impressive form at the end of last season has continued into this term, with the striker netting 14 times already.

His last goal for the club came in a 5-0 thumping of Gainsborough on February 5 but he was unfortunate not to score against Blyth Spartans at the weekend.

Johnson was through one-on-one with the opposition goalkeeper before going down but, to manager Mark Bower's fury, the last defender was not sent off and the Avenue player was instead shown a yellow card for diving.

Johnson came to Avenue with impressive pedigree. He spent many years in the Football League with the likes of Norwich, Yeovil and Oxford and his experience certainly seems to have benefited the team.

Avenue currently sit five points off the play-off places in Vanarama National League North and Johnson's good form this season has helped to give them an outside chance of promotion.

If they fall short this term, at least they have the comfort of knowing that Johnson will be leading the line during the 2018-19 campaign.
