AFTER a home victory against Gainsborough Trinity that was as comprehensive as the 5-0 scoreline suggests, Bradford Park Avenue manager Mark Bower is expected to make few if any changes for tomorrow’s Vanarama National League North match against Darlington.

“I am a great believer in continuity,” admitted Bower, “although we did have some changes in mind for Monday had we played last Saturday at Salford City.”

Bower was able to give a debut to Bradford City’s Dan Pybus on Monday, as well as bringing on fellow loanee Frank Mulhern and also handing a home debut to new signing Adam Smith.

“I have watched Dan in quite a few under-23 games for City and felt that he could offer us a missing ingredient,” revealed Bower.

“Greg Abbott was happy about it, Stuart McCall was happy about it and Bradford City were happy about it and, because of our player fund, the signing happened.

“Dan needs to experience that physicality at our level, having played under-23 matches, but Frank is probably the opposite in that he is already a man.

“He showed some nice touches and holds the ball up well and will push Adam Boyes for a starting spot, while Adam can beat a man and put in some good crosses.

"Our bench on Monday was as strong as it has been all season, and we will need that going forward if we are to finish in the top seven.”

Bower admitted that the Darlington clash definitely came into his thinking when the fourth goal went in on Monday, and he was able to bring off Wayne Brooksby, who was returning from a hamstring injury, Adam Boyes and Pybus, who was unlucky not to score.

“It was good that we could then conserve our energy and see the game out.

“Gainsborough are quite direct, but Darlington will offer a different challenge as they like to play the ball on the floor and are a passing team. The aim now is to gain back-to-back victories.”

The match at current leaders Salford has been re-arranged for Tuesday, February 20 (7.45).
