ECCLESHILL United beat Bradford Park Avenue 5-2 in their Northern Under-19 Alliance League clash at Horsfall Stadium.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break, courtesy of a tap-in from Kevin Pedro and a ten-yard shot from Dylan Stranney, only for Avenue to reduce the arrears via Jordan Botwood.

However, a goalkeeping error enabled Eccleshill to restore their two-goal advantage and, although Andre Tavernier netted for Avenue with a powerful, curling shot, United secured victory via a left-footed shot from Stranney and another Pedro tap-in.

Eagles manager Warren Rayner said: "It was an entertaining end-to-end game, with both teams missing numerous goal-scoring opportunities."

The Pat Rice League Cup tie between Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Bradford Park Avenue was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

In the Flexible Football West Riding County FA Under-21 Floodlit League, Silsden defeated Malt Shovel 3-1 thanks to first-half goals from Jack Diamond, Aaron Davis and Keann Shaw.

Silsden manager Paul Evans said: "We gave a good team performance, and it was a welcome win – our first of the season.

"We defended well in the second period to restrict Malt Kiln."

Silsden followed this up with a 6-3 triumph at Yorkshire Amateur.

However, the Cobbydalers found themselves 2-0 behind after half an hour but replied with five goals either side of half-time from Nick McNally (3), Luke Baldwin and Oskar Boqusz. Amateur pulled a goal back before Owen Williamson completed the scoring for Silsden.

Evans said: "We performed really well, especially considering the fact that we had three 16-year-olds playing - Jack Brockbank, Joe Whitlock and Tom Meakin."

Campion defeated Malt Shovel 6-3, although the winners created numerous in the opening 20 minutes but failed to take any of them.

Malt Shovel took the lead completely against the run of play and then began to dominate, leading 3-0.

Campion pulled a goal back but the turning point was when Malt Shovel's goalkeeper was sent off for throwing the ball into a Campion player's face.

Having the extra man proved crucial for Campion because within 20 minutes of the second half, they had scored three times to tie up the match, and in the end ran out comfortable winners.

Goal-scorers for Campion were Lee Bradshaw (2), Jahro Parchment, Kenny Tafireyi, Josh Finan and George Cull.

Brighouse Town were humbled 5-1 at Ossett Albion, but started positively and led through Brad Birkhead before becoming sloppy.

Brighouse's assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "We gave our team a stern telling off at half-time but we then conceded a goal straight away, which we never recovered from.

In fact, we got worse. Now it's a test of character to see how we recover for our next match."

Thackley lost 4-1 against leaders Tadcaster Albion, but opened the scoring through Kev Sanasy.

The Brewers levelled shortly afterwards and scored three goals in the second half, with two coming in the last minute.

Thackley's joint manager Nathan Priestley said: "Rhe score was not a true reflection of the game."
