BRADFORD Park Avenue defender Ryan Toulson has joined the club's coaching staff for the new campaign.

The full back, who signed for Avenue last summer, captained the club throughout 2016-17 but, although still being registered as a player, he will be more focused on coaching this time around.

Bower, who also worked with the 31-year-old right back at Guiseley, was happy to add him to the coaching staff.

"I feel Tully has the right personality to compliment myself and Danny (Boshell) as a management team," Bower said.

"As someone who I have worked with before, I know he will be a real asset to us."

Prior to joining Avenue, Toulson had spent the previous two seasons under Bower at Guiseley, making 34 appearances as they gained promotion to the National League before playing 38 times as the Lions defeated the odds to stay up in 2015-16.

Prior to his second stint at Guiseley, the attack-minded full back also helped FC Halifax Town to promotion from Conference North.

He started his career at The Shay before spells at Harrogate Town and Gainsborough Trinity.

He joined Guiseley for the first time in 2010 before returning to Halifax after one season.

Toulson made 89 appearances in three seasons with the Shaymen before moving back to Nethermoor.

He was made captain upon his arrival at Avenue, and went on to make 43 appearances in all competitions last term.
