Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Cleethorpes Town 0 Albion Sports 3

ALBION Sports inflicted the first home defeat of the season on leaders Cleethorpes Town last night.

The Owls were fresh from confirming their place in May's Buildbase FA Vase final at Wembley and were hoping to bank a home win in the league in front of their own fans, but the Lions spoiled the party.

The visitors took a lead into the break after Lewis Morgan broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, and Danny Facey bagged a second-half brace as Albion hit the 60-point barrier for the season.

The Lions' manager Kulwinder Sandhu said: “The weather had been bad but their pitch was absolutely fine and they had a very strong side out - nobody had been rested.

“It was a very good win, and Danny (Facey) was at his potent best in the opposition’s area. It was a very good performance under difficult circumstances.”

Cleethorpes remain top of the league on goal difference but have four games in hand on joint leaders Pickering Town.

Bradford Park Avenue should have been in action in Vanarama National League North but their game at Darlington 1883 was postponed following the heavy rains that battered the country.

The game was given the green light in the afternoon but a tea-time inspection was called after the weather worsened, and the decision to call the game off was made shortly after 5pm, with players and supporters already on their way to their way to Blackwell Meadows.
