MARK Bower says Bradford Park Avenue are looking forward to a home game tomorrow after a couple of weeks on the road – but also know just how big a task they are facing.

Bradford are targeting a fourth league victory on the trot, and their recent run means they are now in the relegation zone on goal difference only.

Standing in their way will be a Kidderminster Harriers side sitting in third place in National North and looking for an instant return to the top tier of non-league football.

Bower said: “It will be good to be back at home. We broke our duck there last time so we are looking forward to coming home.

“But it’s against one of the best clubs in the league. Kidderminster are a big club for this level – they’re full time and have a manager who played a lot of games at a high level.

“It’s a tough one but a good one for us to see how far we’ve come over the past few weeks.”

Avenue played Stockport County in back-to-back away games, winning the league fixture before losing an FA Trophy tie 2-0 last Saturday.

Bower feels last week’s defeat will not have dented the confidence that was building in his squad – and he has two key players back after the cup game.

“There were spells last week when we played well and moved the ball about very quickly and cleverly, so there were positives to take,” added Bower.

“We hit the post, had a goal ruled out and then had a really clear-cut opportunity late on and if we’d got a goal then we could have gone on to win as we had the week before.

“We were down to our last 16 players that day but James Knowles and Oli Johnson will both be back in contention tomorrow. Knowlesy was cup-tied after playing for Farsley in an earlier round and Guiseley wouldn’t allow Oli to play.

“We’ve got three players here on loan and Southport and Darlington both game permission, but Guiseley didn’t and I can fully understand that as they don’t even come into the competition until next Saturday.

“They are two big players for us and it’ll be a big plus to have them back available, but last week was an opportunity for other players who have been knocking on the door.

“It gave us a chance to get them some game time and it gave them a chance to show us what they can do. It gave us options.”
