BRADFORD Park Avenue will be hoping history repeats itself tomorrow when they host AFC Telford United in the National North.

When the Bucks visited Horsfall Stadium last season Avenue claimed their first win of that campaign. Bradford won 1-0 thanks to a Chib Chilaka strike on that occasion.

It is a much changed Avenue that welcomes Telford this term but one thing remains the same – a home victory would still mark Bradford’s first win of the season.

Last term’s victory came earlier in the season even though it was the eighth game while this time around Avenue are 13 matches in and still seeking a first win.

Three draws and nine defeats in the league leave Bradford at the foot of National North and they are also out of the FA Cup after losing their one tie in this season’s competition.

There is hope and expectation around the city that Avenue can begin the fight-back tomorrow as former Bantams’ centre back and skipper Mark Bower oversees his first home game in charge.

He said: “Horsfall is a unique place to play football and we want to make it a difficult place for opposition teams to come.

“The target is to break that run of ten defeats, and if we can climb off the bottom of the table at the same time then that would lift everyone at the club.

"We have brought Adam Nowakowski in on loan from Darlington and we are looking at another couple of deals that might be done before the Telford game.

“They are not too far above us in the table so they are one of the clubs that has to be in our sights as we look to start a run that will steer us to survival.”

Bower and his assistant manager Danny Boshell cut their teeth at neighbouring rivals Guiseley, guiding the Lions into the National League. They were appointed as the new duo at the Horsfall almost three weeks ago but have not been in the home dugout on a match day as yet.
