IT HAS been a high speed end to the season for Bradford Park Avenue but it will draw to a close after tomorrow’s home game against Gainsborough Trinity.

Avenue have played ten games in the final month of the campaign at an average of one every three days. All of those, after tomorrow, will have been under the control of caretaker boss Darren Edmondson, who has come out of the whirl with compliments from all sides.

It has been a challenging period for the former Barrow boss but he was at the helm at the Horsfall Stadium as Avenue secured their National League North status, by some margin in the final analysis, and retained the West Riding County Cup.

Tomorrow’s game will be Bradford’s fourth home fixture of the ten games in April. There were five away games and the County Cup final at a neutral venue, although outsiders will question if Bradford City’s Valley Parade can be classed as neutral as Avenue is the city’s second club.

The 3-2 victory over league rivals Harrogate Town was arguably the best result of the month but the wins and draws picked up in the league were just as important.

The players will enjoy their end of season presentation evening following tomorrow’s game and they will be joined by satisfied home supporters. Edmondson must also be satisfied with his work and he has enjoyed being back involved in the day to day running of a football club.

Many hope he will be in charge for the full season next term.
