BRADFORD Park Avenue can play with complete freedom at Hednesford Town tomorrow after a double celebration on Tuesday night.

Avenue successfully defended the West Riding County Cup at the home of Bradford City – and on the same evening their place in Vanarama National League North for next season was confirmed by results elsewhere.

That must have made the post-match celebratory cup of tea taste all the sweeter for Darren Edmondson and his playing squad.

The caretaker boss has needed to rely on the full pool of players as he has battled on two fronts since taking over from Martin Drury.

There will probably be changes for this weekend's league game, despite Avenue's excellent 3-2 cup win over league rivals Harrogate Town.

Edmondson will be driving his side on to finish as high as they can and will hope to bank another three points at already-relegated Hednesford.

The Pitmen earned a morale-boosting 2-1 victory at leaders and neighbours Solihull Moors last weekend – but that came after manager Frank Sinclair had left the club just days earlier and it proved cold comfort as their drop was confirmed by other results on Tuesday.

Former Chelsea and Leicester City centre back Sinclair parted company with Hednesford by mutual consent after failing to revive the club, having been appointed earlier in the season.

Former player Kyle Patterson is in caretaker charge at Keys Park and will be looking to maintain his 100 per cent record tomorrow. That would be a positive ahead of the Pitmen's presentation evening, which follows the game.

Avenue will be in the mood to put a dampener on Hednesford's party night. Edmondson's side have won their last three games, with their cup victory following back-to-back league wins.

The Horsfall outfit have just three games left and this is their final away day as they finish their campaign with home games against Nuneaton Town next Wednesday and Gainsborough Trinity a week tomorrow.
