BRADFORD Park Avenue were stalled by another postponement in midweek but manager Martin Drury has his players primed for another relegation six-pointer at Brackley Town tomorrow.

Drury’s men have not been able to get to any momentum going after two of their last three fixtures fell foul of the weather.

The one game they did play boosted confidence as they brushed mid-table Curzon Ashton aside with a magnificent second-half performance. A brace from Chib Chilaka, a Richard Marshall penalty and a close-range effort from Jason St Juste hauled Avenue to a 4-2 win after they had trailed 2-0 at the break.

They will need to find that second-half form tomorrow as their hosts will be up for the battle at St James Park. Brackley have picked up six points from their last two fixtures with wins at Hednesford Town and then Lowestoft Town but still trail Avenue by two points and have played four games more.

Bradford boss Drury said: “We trained on Tuesday as normal even though we should have had a game on Wednesday because there were a few that missed out on the squad last Saturday and we wanted to have a look at the progress of everyone.

“We have options but I thought that the players in the side against Curzon played so well in the second half. The boys with the shirts on that day will take some shifting but every game is different and brings a different challenge.”

Brackley boss Kevin Wilkin still has two of League One leaders Burton Albion’s players to call on in young centre back Liam Slade and keeper Sam Hornby.

Avenue’s visit could be Slade’s last game as his loan is due to run out but Hornby has signed until the end of the season.
