BRADFORD Park Avenue make the trip to long-term rivals Curzon Ashton on Saturday looking to end a run of two defeats.

Manager Martin Drury, who saw his side lose unluckily 2-1 at home to Boston on Wednesday, knows his men are entering a critical phase of the National League North season.

They entertain Corby on Tuesday night before a quirk in the fixture list sees Curzon Ashton visit Horsfall Stadium next Saturday.

Nine points from the next three games could put them back in the hunt for a play-off place, but a further series of defeats would set the relegation alarm bells ringing.

There were some encouraging signs for Drury after Boston edged a tight game after taking a first-minute lead and then doubling their advantage early in the second half.

Craig King pulled a goal back for Bradford, and former Bantams youth player Callum Chippendale looked lively.

Drury named an unchanged side for the visit of the Pilgrims in midweek, despite their dismal defeat at Lowestoft last weekend.

Throwing the gauntlet down to his players almost paid dividends as they put in a spirited display.

Drury’s recent selections have also been hampered by injuries. He will be assessing his pool of players before naming the squad.

Curzon Ashton are holding a food bank collection prior to the game, just as Avenue have done this season. Supporters of both clubs are asked to donate tins and non-perishable goods.
