BOSS Martin Drury has hailed the impact of his front two during Park Avenue's recent resurgence.

The Horsfall side have put a lamentable January behind them with three wins and a draw, including a

3-1 victory at home to FC United of Manchester last Wednesday.

Lamin Colley got one of the goals and, along with strike partner Chib Chilaka, also impressed in the 0-0 draw at home to his former club Stockport County.

The Avenue boss said: “I thought Lamin and Chib were awesome against Stockport County and both of them deserved to score but were unfortunate on the day.

“Lamin hit the post and the bar and his pace was causing the Stockport defence problems throughout. Chib was also giving them problems and he got in some great positions.”

Colley was brought to Bradford by Drury’s mentor and predecessor John Deacey but he left to sign for the Hatters before returning to Avenue after a season.

Drury, who was left back in the team when Colley and Chilaka arrived before injury wrecked his playing career, admits the pair are a defender's nightmare.

He said: “I would have hated playing against Lamin, and Chib for that matter, because they are always on the move and they’re so mobile and yet so powerful and strong.

“I like to look at the centre halves of our opponents when they’re coming off at half-time and at the end of the game to see if they’ve been worked hard. I can tell you that these centre halves are coming off knowing that they’ve been in a game.

“The defenders are weary and dripping with sweat when they head to the dressing rooms and that pleases me. I know that my players have given them a very tough time.

“After the Stockport game they must have gone away thinking why they had let a player like Lamin go.”

Avenue’s good run has come despite a growing injury list, which was added to by a minor traffic accident that kept Adam Mather and Paul Schofield out of the last two games, though the pair are back in training.

Drury said: “It was Adam’s car but Paul was in it with him when they were driving to training a week last Thursday. They both ended up in hospital for treatment but it was just a bit of whiplash.

“It was before the Stockport game so I had to make changes to the team with five or six players out. I put Sam Patterson and Jason St Juste in as full backs and it might have looked odd to the outsiders but Sam is a good footballer who has played a lot at right back and Jason (a St Kitts and Nevis international) has represented his country at left back so it certainly wasn’t a gamble.”
