TWO former Football League clubs will go head to head at Horsfall Stadium on Saturday when Bradford Park Avenue tackle Stockport County.

The Hatters beat Martin Drury’s men 2-0 when they met in the Vanarama National League North at Edgeley Park in October.

Last season saw the honours even with Stockport winning 3-1 at Edgeley Park while Avenue won2-0 at Horsfall.

One of Bradford's scorers that day was Richard Marshall who netted from the penalty spot. Luke Dean added the second.

Avenue would settle for a repeat of that result as they seek a third consecutive victory to boost their revival after a disastrous January.

Their mini slump, interspersed with the frustrations of not being able to build any momentum due to postponements, has seen them slip back to 17th in the table.

Stockport have also experienced a recent slide and are currently 13th spot after taking just three points from their last seven league games.

The Hatters believed that they would be a force to be reckoned with this term and were tipped as promotion contenders. Three quarters of the way through their season they are 15 points off the play-off places.

Avenue are just five points behind their opponents with five games in hand. Their problem has been

a lack of goals. They have scored just 29 in 23 games and have conceded the same number.

Avenue will be hoping that leading scorer Chib Chilaka, whose goal secured them a 1-0 win at Gainsborough in their last league outing, can help them boost their tally over the closing stages of the season.

The past week has encapsulated the problems Park Avenue have been facing. Looking to build on the Gainsborough triumph and their thrilling West Riding County Cup win over Halifax, they have had their momentum stalled by the postponement of their home league game with Corby and County Cup clash with Ossett Albion postponed.
