BRADFORD Park Avenue have their sights set on another long unbeaten run after bouncing back from two consecutive defeats with a draw in midweek.

Avenue had gone nine games without a loss until they were beaten by the odd goal in Vanarama National League North fixtures either side of the turn of the year.

Postponements have frustrated them in the league since but they hope that is behind them now as they travel to AFC Telford United, the side that they got their first win of the season against.

However, Avenue face a fixture backlog as their midweek stalemate in the FA Trophy was bitter sweet.

Avenue showed the quality and resilience that was evident in their nine-game unbeaten run and put the last two defeats to bed but a replay against Evo-Stik Premier Division Nantwich Town next Tuesday means their league game against Chorley, scheduled for the following day, has been postponed.

Martin Drury’s men are only halfway through their league campaign and battling in two cup competitions.

They have games in hand on their rivals in the league but have been stalled by the recent weather.

There were positives from the 1-1 draw against the Dabbers on Wednesday, with skipper Simon Ainge returning to the centre of the Avenue defence after a long injury lay-off, Chib Chilaka returning to the starting line up, Michael Potts making a scoring return from the substitutes' bench and Burnley keeper Conor Mitchell making a confident debut to begin his loan spell.

Drury will be accentuating all of those points before he sends his charges out at the New Bucks Stadium tomorrow.

The home side may still be at the foot of the table but they have strengthened significantly in recent weeks.

Telford have signed John Cofie, who learned his trade at Manchester United, from Wrexham, and drafted in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Eusebio Banecssi on loan, and their results have picked up.

The Bucks have taken four points from their last two games after a 1-1 draw with mid-table Gainsborough Trinity and an impressive 1-0 win at Stockport County gave them an unbeaten start to the new year.
