PARK Avenue had another busy week of transfers as they followed up the surprise signing of Calum Chippendale with the loan capture of a keeper.

Young stopper Conor Mitchell, who is a Northern Ireland youth international, joins on a month’s loan from Sean Dyche’s Championship outfit.

Bringing in a keeper on a short term deal has been boss Martin Drury’s main focus since Avenue’s number one Jon Stewart was sent off against Lincoln City.

Avenue pulled out all the stops to beat the Imps in an FA Trophy first round tie but the victory was soured by Stewart’s rush of blood.

The keeper’s action was petulant rather than malicious but the straight red card still brought the arbitrary three-match suspension.

With Stewart sitting out tomorrow’s National League North game against Nuneaton Town as the first of his ban, Mitchell is expected to make his Horsfall Stadium debut.

The Burnley youngster has featured heavily for his country at youth level, helping them to victory in the Milk Cup in Coleraine.

He signed a two-year youth team scholarship with Burnley in 2012, before signing as a professional in 2014.

However, he continued to play for Burnley’s youth team last season due to a special dispensation for goalkeepers.

After impressing last term, Mitchell was offered a new deal for 2015-16 which has already been extended by the club following an appearance on the bench at Middlesbrough.

There could also be a first run out at home for former Bradford City youth Chippendale. The young forward made his debut from the substitute’s bench in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at FC United of Manchester.

It has also been a busy week for Avenue’s National League neighbours Guiseley as their boss Mark Bower has also made signings.

Bower is delighted to welcome back Anthony Dudley from Bury and has made two other loan spells permanent.

Dudley is a crowd favourite after his first loan spell with the Lions but that was ended when his parent club recalled him.

The youngster, who started for the Shakers against Fleetwood last weekend, is now back at Nethermoor until the end of April.

Wingers Adam Smith, from Wrexham, and James Hurst, from Torquay United, have impressed during their loan spells. Bower has now secured them both as they have put pen to paper on deals until the end of the season.
