BRADFORD Park Avenue and FC Halifax Town face re-arranged FA Trophy ties in midweek after the weather played havoc with the area’s football clubs at the weekend.

Avenue were due to host Lincoln City in a big first-round test against the National League high-fliers but the playing surface at Horsfall Stadium was found to be waterlogged in a 10am inspection.

Martin Drury will get his men ready for another attempt to upset the odds on Wednesday but the postponement will lead to fixture congestion.

The Shaymen were also thwarted after they confirmed that their pitch was playable at 9.30am and 10.30am.

However, the rain was incessant, and with the forecast for the rest of the afternoon very poor, match referee Peter Wright had no option but to call the game off at 12.45pm.

Halifax will now host Park Avenue’s National League North counterparts Tamworth tomorrow and, following their draw at Burscough, Guiseley will also be at home in the same competition on the same night.

Following last week’s three attempts to play their FA Trophy third qualifying round tie at Buxton and a West Riding County Cup quarter-final postponement, Avenue have two more games to rearrange.

Bradford announced that their league game at Worcester City has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 19.

Their County Cup quarter-final with Halifax has been pencilled in for Wednesday January 13, with the venue to be confirmed.

The Shaymen had home advantage when the draw was made but they asked to switch the tie to Horsfall, and Avenue agreed.

When the tie was called off on December 2, just a day after Avenue’s second attempt to visit Buxton in the Trophy, the Shaymen tried to find an alternative venue but were unsuccessful.

Wednesday’s rearranged tie with Lincoln means Avenue’s home league game against Curzon Ashton will again be moved.

A fourth date will now have to found for that game as it was originally set for March but brought forward as both clubs had a free Saturday after being knocked out of the FA Cup.

That date – November 7 – was washed out, so this Wednesday was the third time of asking.

Six of the area’s other semi-pro clubs also faced frustration at the weekend, with Evo-Stik Division One North neighbours Farsley Celtic and Brighouse Town both having home games postponed.

The Celts were due to host Mossley, while Town’s visitors should have been Kendal Town.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, Liversedge were due to travel to Barton Town Old Boys, while Kulwinder Sandhu’s Albion Sports should have made the journey to Rainworth Miners' Welfare.

Eccleshill United were due a home fixture in Division One but Penistone Church were saved from making the trip, while in the North West Counties League Premier Division, Silsden also had early notification that their derby at Nelson was also off.
