BRADFORD Park Avenue endured a second postponement of the midweek last night when their West Riding County Cup quarter-final derby against FC Halifax Town was put on hold.

It has been both frustrating and confusing for players and supporters alike following last Saturday’s half- time abandonment.

That FA Trophy tie at Buxton needing to be played to a conclusion led to a domino effect.

At the request of the FA, it was rescheduled for Tuesday but the pitch at Buxton’s Silverlands was not fit due to the continued wet weather.

Avenue were due to host the Shaymen last night in the County Cup and had left that open in anticipation that the Trophy tie the night before might not go ahead.

However, more information released by the club yesterday appeared to suggest that last night’s tie could not have gone ahead, despite the weather.

Halifax had asked for the tie to be switched to Horsfall Stadium, and Avenue had agreed.

When that arrangement was made, Avenue had a free midweek but had some pitch work being undertaken on the Monday - their usual midweek day - so moved the game to the Wednesday.

The severity of the rain meant the work was not done last Monday, so it was done yesterday, meaning the pitch wasn’t ready to be played on.

The club have announced that there are still some tickets still available for tomorrow night’s event with Peter Jackson.

The former Bradford City captain and manager, who also had a good spell in charge of Huddersfield Town with his right-hand man Terry Yorath, is speaking at the clubhouse and meeting fans.

Avenue's commercial manager Andrew Pinfield said: “Tickets have gone well but there are some still on sale and I’m sure it will be a great night. Peter has done it all in the game and he’s got some stories to tell.”

Tickets cost £10.
