FOLLOWING the frustration of last weekend’s first postponement of the season, Bradford Park Avenue head to Chorley’s Victory Park on Saturday with Richard Marshall expected to make his 200th appearance.

Marshall's milestone came as a surprise to him, and he said: “I didn’t know about it until I read it on the T&A website, and then a few of the lads started talking about it.

“It was something I’ve never thought about, and I honestly didn’t realise I’d been at the club that long, but it’s great to have been involved and in the side throughout my time here.”

Bradford are looking for back-to-back wins after enjoying a 3-0 scoreline at home last time out, Marshall netting two penalties as they beat Lowestoft Town, with Chib Chilaka adding the third.

Chorley will be a different proposition however.

The Magpies were beaten play-off finalists last season, losing out to Guiseley, and are bidding for another tilt at the end-of-season extras.

They are four points outside the play-offs but have a game in hand, and have also signed a young forward from manager Matt Jansen’s former club, Blackburn Rovers, on a one-month loan.

Big things are expected from Dean Rittenberg as the 19-year-old is an England under-18 international who has already scored against Germany. Tomorrow will be Avenue’s first game this month and the first since the experienced Terry Dolan was brought onto the board of directors.

Dolan, who needs no introduction in the city, has been high profile at recent games and has been manager Martin Drury’s sounding board.

Marshall admitted it would have been nice to reach his personal achievement at home and knows he and his team-mates face a stern test at Victory Park.

He said: “It was obviously frustrating for us last week as we didn’t even think about the game being off.

"The pitch has been a lot better after the work they did on it in the summer but there was standing water, so the referee made the right decision.

“If I’d made my 200th last week at home it might have been better – away at Chorley will be a lot harder.

"Playing there has been tough over the past few seasons, and it will be this time because they are going well again.”
