BRADFORD Park Avenue are struggling in National League North because of one statistic – their goals-scored column.

One goal per game, which is exactly their return 13 games into the season, has held them back.

But they certainly rediscovered their scoring touch in midweek with a 7-0 masterclass.

Avenue were up against neighbours Albion Sports in what was a banana-skin West Riding County Cup tie.

Both sides had been handed a bye into the second round, so it was their first hurdle.

Avenue are the holders after a victorious night at Valley Parade last April but Albion, who play their football three divisions lower, were at home and had enjoyed a good start to the campaign.

Yet any notion of a cup shock was all but eliminated by half-time with Avenue enjoying a 3-0 lead.

It took Richard Marshall just seven minutes to break the deadlock, he added a second goal midway through the first half and Chib Chilaka netted just before the break.

It had taken Avenue five games in all competitions to rack up that number of goals prior to Wednesday's cup tie.

They then made hay as they rattled in another four after the interval.

Chilaka joined Marshall on a brace, while Michael Potts, Craig King and Jason St Juste all weighed in.

St Juste was celebrating not just his first goal for the club in his two spells at Horsfall Stadium but also his call0up for the St Kitts & Nevis squad for their upcoming friendlies in Andorra and Estonia.

Avenue's exit from the FA Cup, accompanied by Worcester City's continued involvement in the competition, has led to the postponement of Bradford's visit to Worcester next Saturday.

They will now host Curzon Ashton next Saturday, while National League neighbours Guiseley have also rearranged a home game against Barrow on that date following their FA Cup exit to FC Halifax Town in a midweek replay.
