BRADFORD Park Avenue won their first match of the season in Vanarama National League North last time out but if they are to replicate that tomorrow they will have to inflict a first defeat of the campaign on Solihull Moors.

The Midlands club come to the Horsfall Stadium as leaders after eight games, with a six-point cushion over AFC Fylde, who were tipped as one of the favourites to win the division.

However, Avenue will be in belligerent mood after hauling themselves off the foot of the table last Saturday.

Despite that victory, Bradford are still in the relegation zone but with their tails up and looking for another maximum which could lift them as high as 16th.

The 1-0 win over fellow early strugglers AFC Telford United last week came courtesy of Chib Chilaka’s 62nd-minute strike.

That goal followed his hat-trick in the 4-4 draw against North Ferriby United in Bradford’s previous home game, and the striker feels that his team are just finding their feet.

“It’s always good to get off the mark and its every striker's biggest worry but, luckily for me, once the first one went in against Ferriby the floodgates opened,” said Chilaka.

“But as good as it was from a personal point of view to get a hat-trick, the one against Telford was more important for me because it was our first win.

"We have stuck to our beliefs and worked hard but we needed that bit of luck to get us off and running.”

Last season’s top scorer and his team-mates are confident they can build on that win but they know just how big the task is that faces them tomorrow.

“It will be difficult against Solihull because they are a very good side and they have started really well,” added Chilaka.

“You have got to show a lot of respect to Solihull because of the way they have started the season.

"!They hit the ground running and are setting the pace but we are cultivating something here and developing a brand of football.

“We have learned from every one of the eight games we’ve played so far and we are there or thereabouts now.

"So after last week, we’re confident we can unsettle Solihull, we trained well in the week and we can upset that good start they’ve made.”
