BRADFORD Park Avenue’s pre-season moves up a gear tonight as they make the trip to Selby Town for their first friendly fixture.

New Horsfall boss Martin Drury and his staff have had the players training for almost two weeks and they are looking forward to their first run-out. Their Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One hosts have already had a home game at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium.

The Robins hosted Avenue’s West Riding County Cup semi-final opponents Tadcaster Albion on Saturday and won 2-1. Goals in each half from Jack Binns and Tom Chamberlain were enough for a victory, despite Taddy’s former Albion Sports midfielder Liam Ormsby pulling one back.

Ormsby, son of former Leeds United skipper Brendan, scored a penalty with a little over 20 minutes remaining.

Kevin Hector and some of his Avenue team-mates from the 1965-66 season will be in attendance at the club's first home friendly. Hector will be guest of honour when they face neighbours FC Halifax Town on Monday, July 20.

It is 50 years since Hector hit 44 league goals for Avenue and the club are marking the anniversary by playing in a retro-style kit with Hector’s name under the club badge.
