BRADFORD Park Avenue boss Martin Drury is delighted to land his seventh summer signing ahead of the squad’s return to training tomorrow.

Adam Mather is the latest capture as Drury and his assistant Jamie Price go into their first season in charge.

Mather joins from Chorley, where he was on the bench for Garry Flitcroft’s Magpies in the Conference North play-off final when they lost 3-2 to Guiseley.

The left-sided Mather can play midfield or full back and made 35 appearances for Avenue’s rivals last term.

He began his career at New Mills, playing for them 250 times, before being bought by Woodley Sports in 2011 for an undisclosed fee. He also played for Mossley and Curzon Ashton before Chorley.

Mather joins Danny Schofield, James Walshaw, keeper Jon Stewart, Michael Potts, Paul Marshall and Massiah McDonald as new additions.

Drury said: “That is seven signings and I don’t think we’re far off where we want to be now.

“We lost a few players that we didn’t want to because we just couldn’t compete with the offers that were made by other clubs but we’ve replaced them now and added a few.

"I think we’ve added quality and strengthened our squad. I don’t think there will be any more but it depends on who comes available.

"We’ve got some players coming to join us for pre-season and they can force their way into our thinking.

“The challenge is there for them and I’m sure they will take it. You never know what is going to happen in pre-season and sometimes you get a quality player from nowhere.

“We’re all looking forward to it and I can’t wait to get working with the new squad.”

Four regulars from last season’s West Riding County Cup winners have departed Horsfall Stadium over the close season.

Striker Lamin Calley was snapped up by Stockport County and former Bantam Joe Colbeck has gone to rivals Harrogate Town.

Alex Davidson, after injury sidelined him for almost all last season, and keeper John Danby are the other first-team players to have left.
