BRADFORD Park Avenue finance director Kevin Hainsworth has stated his intention to step down from the board – but has vowed not to leave the club in the lurch.

Hainsworth insists there have been no fall-outs at Horsfall and says he still loves the club but thinks it is time to leave his current role.

"To be honest, I hope the decision leaves the club in a better position," he said.

"The bottom line is that we need more people involved and as long as I'm doing what I'm doing, everyone is quite happy to let me continue. By standing down, hopefully others will step forward.

"There will be a handover period but that will go on for a while because as yet, I don't know who I'm handing over to.

"It will be an interesting time and we will have to sit and wait – but I'm hoping there will be some announcements around Christmas.

"I've got to the point where I feel the time is right. I have taken the club as far as I can and if the club wants to go further, as I want it to, then someone else will have to pick up the baton and run with it.

"But I'm going to look a bit silly if no-one does."

Avenue chief executive officer Bob Blackburn is currently out of the country and not expected back until later this week.

Blackburn, chairman John Dean and Hainsworth will meet to discuss the club's immediate future at the earliest opportunity.

Meanwhile, Farsley are in Evo-Stik League action tonight as they look to consolidate the Division One North play-off zone berth they reclaimed at the weekend.

Saturday's 3-1 victory at Burscough lifted Neil Parsley's men up to fifth as they prepare to host Spennymoor Town, who are eighth.

Farsley are six points better off than their opponents but have played two games more, so need a positive result to keep Spennymoor at arm's length.

Parsley says his squad came through injury-free at the weekend and he also has midfielder Ross Daly available again after a one-game suspension.

Elsewhere, Liversedge host Garforth Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

Back-to-back defeats have stalled Sedge's recent Premier Division recovery but a home win tonight would take them level on points with 12th-placed Garforth.
