Bradford Park Avenue 2 Solihull Moors 3

BRADFORD Park Avenue go into tomorrow night’s Vanarama Conference North home game against North Ferriby United on the back of another defeat after switching off in the first half against Solihull Moors.

The Midlands outfit came to Horsfall Stadium in fourth spot and looking to extend their impressive unbeaten run into double figures. They didn’t need any help from the home side but they got it as Avenue collapsed in the latter stages of the opening half for the second consecutive time at home.

It was a dream start for Bradford as Chib Chilaka drilled a low, angled shot past Moors keeper Tony Breedon after only 66 seconds.

The visitors were soon on the attack but it was midway through the first half before they levelled, Liam Daly heading home at the near post from a corner. The award of the flag-kick was questionable, as Darryl Knight’s shot appeared to have curled around the angle of John Danby’s goal without a deflection.

No one could blame the referee though as no one could see too much in the eerie gloom of a fog-bound Horsfall..

Soon after, Avenue conceded another corner and paid the ultimate price as England C international Omar Bogle rose at the back post. His header clipped the inside of the post but the ball crossed the line.

In the second minute of first-half stoppage time a foul was committed in the area, Dan Clayton later admitting responsibility, and Bogle confidently drove home the spot-kick.

Avenue were much better after the break and as the half went on Lamin Colley and Danny Frost came on to cause problems for the visitors’ defence.

Solihull were still creating chances and Danby did well to save at the feet of Bogle and palm away a Knight shot for a corner. Bogle was also denied by the crossbar.

Bradford cut the deficit in the 77th minute after forcing a corner themselves. The flag-kick was half cleared but Clayton drilled in a low shot from the corner of the area.

The home side piled on the pressure and Frost saw his shot well-saved by Breedon.

Moors ran the clock down to close the game out and hold on to their 3-2 victory.

Bradford boss Deacey said: “We gifted them two corners and two goals and you can’t do that and expect to win games.

“We played some good stuff in the second half and caused a very good side some problems but we are losing games in our penalty area. We’re not doing the basics right in our area and that’s just gifting teams wins.”

Deacey confirmed that Nathan Turner is doubtful for tomorrow night's game against mid-table Ferriby, who held second-placed Fylde to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
