THACKLEY were the big winners on a big night in the West Riding County Cup but BRADFORD PARK AVENUE were frustrated by fog.

John Deacey’s men had a wasted journey to Goole AFC after a late call by the match referee.

The fog was thick at the time and the official insisted he couldn’t see both goals from the centre circle, but it was lifting.

Deacey said: “We wanted to play it, their manager wanted to play it, but the referee was having none of it.”

The second round tie is expected to be rescheduled for next Tuesday.

Matt Bilney netted a hat-trick as THACKLEY knocked Pontefract Collieries out 3-0 at Dennyfield. Bilney scored the only goal of the first half in the 35th minute but had to wait until the last kick of the game to claim his treble.

There was last-minute drama at Tadcaster Albion as they wrapped up a 3-1 win over LIVERSEDGE from the penalty spot. Sedge had led from Kieran Corley’s third-minute opener but Taddy turned the game with three strikes inside the last quarter of an hour.

ALBION SPORTS are also out after a 2-0 defeat at Harrogate Town. Louis Swain and Shane Killock were on target for the home side.

Another last-minute penalty on the night saw BRIGHOUSE TOWN snatch a point from the visit of Ossett Albion in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

Albion’s Kane Reece broke the deadlock in a tight derby in the 76th minute but Town substitute Tom Matthews rescued a point after he had been fouled in the area.
