MANAGER John Deacey is wary of one of his former players as he takes his Bradford Park Avenue side to Hednesford Town on Saturday.

The midlands club are in the top eight of the Vanarama Conference North and enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Hyde last weekend with Danny Glover plundering a hat-trick.

Deacey said: “Danny has got four goals in the last two games so he is on form and he will be out to prove something against us, his old club.

“It will be a difficult game as it always is when you go to Hednesford. They have done well and been knocking on the door for the last couple of years. They are a well-supported club and the fans create a good atmosphere which makes it hard for visiting clubs.

“Our lads have trained well this week though and it was a happy place last Monday after our win against Barrow. We were a bit hit and miss and Barrow are a very good side but we battled well and it was encouraging to get the win.”

It was a fine result as Park Avenue had gone nine games, in all competitions, without a win while Barrow were on a nine-game unbeaten run.

Deacey said, “It was great for Richard Marshall to get the winner and it was one of his trademark goals. He beat his man and smashed it into the top corner. He has got that in him but we don’t see it enough and he will be the first to say that.

“We worked really hard and Jack Rea was outstanding, absolutely outstanding, and little Danny Frost did really well. But the win came at a cost and we will be without Nathan Hotte, he has tweaked his hamstring and could be out for two weeks.

“We might have Chris Lever back and Nathan Turner is back running again so he should be back soon, but Alex Davidson is out for the full season.

“Alex got his scan results and he knows it will be a long job because its his cruciate ligament. He has been really unlucky.

“Scott Kerr won’t be with us either because he’s gone on loan to Hyde but I was impressed with the young lad from City.

"Niall Heaton joined us on loan and did well against Barrow. He’s a big strong boy and a good footballer.”
