AVENUE boss John Deacey has been on injury watch ahead of Saturday’s trip to Solihull Moors in Vanarama Conference North.

The visitors go into the game with doubts over two regulars and a recent signing following two tough FA Cup clashes with AFC Fylde.

The league leaders were held 2-2 at Horsfall Stadium last weekend but they defeated Avenue 2-1 after extra-time in Tuesday’s replay.

Nathan Hotte and Paul Walker both picked up knocks in the second half, while new man Chris Lever was injured in the warm-up.

Jamie Price took Lever’s place in the starting line-up but pulled up after just ten minutes, and he too had to be substituted.

Deacey said: “It was a big blow losing Nathan and Paul – it meant I had used all my subs after 55 minutes because Chris Howarth had to come on for Pricey.

“I thought Chris Lever played really well on his debut last Saturday, so it was disappointing to lose him to injury as well.

“Some of them have trained this week and some haven’t, so we’ll just have to see how they are.

“Pricey will definitely miss the game, I’m hoping Chris will be okay, Paul will be doubtful but Nathan should be all right.

“We took him off as more of a precaution because we have to look after him. We don’t want to aggravate anything and have him sidelined for a long spell.

“Luke O’Brien will be back after being cup-tied and we’ve signed forward Lamin Colley from Harrogate Railway, who has a good scoring record.”

Solihull have won and drawn the same number of games as Bradford but are two places higher on goal difference and have played two fewer matches.

They have beaten North Ferriby United and Chorley but were held 2-2 by Stockport County last time out.

Deacey added: “It will be a tough game at Solihull. They are no mugs, you just have to look at some of the teams they have beaten to see that.

“It will be all about us going in with the right attitude if we are to get anything.”
