BRADFORD Park Avenue face one of their longest trips of the season tomorrow as they head to Lowestoft Town.

It will be Avenue’s second new venue in succession after their midweek journey to AFC Fylde. Like the west-coast club, Lowestoft are new to Vanarama Conference North.

The fresh faces have come in with momentum and shown a burning desire to prove themselves in the division, so, for a second game on the trot, Avenue will be looking to upset the odds as they head to a club higher up the table

John Deacey’s men will also be looking to arrest a three-match losing streak, following defeats at Gainsborough Trinity and Fylde either side of last weekend’s 3-1 home reverse to Boston United.

The Bradford boss was disappointed with the 1-0 loss at Gainsborough and critical of his forwards last weekend but was buoyed by the midweek display.

Fylde had been cutting a swathe through their opponents in recent games and had won 8-1 away immediately before hosting Avenue, but it was a close game – 2-1 to the home side and Paul Walker had a penalty saved when the game was still in the balance at 1-1.

Following the game, Deacey said: “I felt we did well. We put a different shape together and I thought it was good performance. If we had scored the penalty to make it 2-1, the result could’ve been different.

“But you have to give credit to AFC Fylde because they are a good side and will cause plenty of problems for teams this season.”

Fylde were fourth when Avenue faced them. Lowestoft are 14th but still above Bradford in the table on goal difference following Tuesday’s defeat.

Avenue have won one more game than tomorrow’s hosts but Lowestoft are harder to beat, having won two and drawn four of their eight starts.

However, the home side are not prolific scorers and are averaging less than a goal per game. Deacey’s side rarely fail to score so if a low-scoring game ensues, Avenue have every chance of edging it.
