More than 70 runners turned out in Ilkley for the seventh event in Airienteers’ Night Score League.
Runners have 45 minutes to visit as many control sites as possible in the time-scale, with controls differing in points value depending on their distance from the start.
It was tight at the top, with Ian Nixon of Leeds first with 460 points, just three seconds ahead of Dave Alcock, also on 460 points. Baildon’s Steve Watkins was a further 12 seconds back.
Menston’s Steve Webb was fourth on 410, while Jess Trowbridge was fifth on 400 and first woman home.
Other runners in the top 15 to finish were (points in brackets): Tony Thornley (400), Lucy Griffiths (380), Chris Needham (380), Tom Paget (370), Nick Jones (370), Frank Kew (370), Robert Gatenby (360), Ian Marshall (350), Keith Runesson (350), Faye Pinker (350).
The first junior runner home was Florence Haines of Ilkley with 310 points and the event was ably organised by Rob King.
After seven events, Steve Watkins is the current leader of the Night League, with Jess Trowbridge heading up the women’s rankings.
