Yorkshire Division Four North West: Halifax 10 Wibsey 12
CHRIS Clough stepped up and missed a last-minute penalty that would have handed his former club Wibsey their first defeat of the season in Yorkshire Division Four North West.
Without hooker or No 8 James Brown, fly half Luke Helliwell and chief line-out jumper Marcus Grimes, the visitors were forced to play a limited game-plan at Ovenden Park and just about got away with it.
Brad Wright and James Sawyer missed a penalty and drop goal respectively in the second minute, and Halifax went ahead with a try in the 23rd minute that was cancelled out four minutes later by winger Jack Cull.
It was still 5-5 at half-time, but Halifax got their second try six minutes after the interval.
Wibsey, who were fortunate that Halifax did not have a reliable kicker, levelled with a typical Kyle Carter dart after 55 minutes, Wright's conversion winning a dour struggle that was mainly played in the forwards.
Prop Simon Birkbeck was Wibsey's man of the match, followed by flanker Chris Farley and fly half Sawyer.
