BRADFORD Bulls may have gone into liquidation, but at least one club in BD6 are enjoying their winter.

Wibsey, whose headquarters are less than a mile away from Odsal, have won all ten of their Yorkshire Division Five matches in the 15-a-side code and could even be promoted as early as Saturday night.

For that to happen, however, Wibsey would have to defeat fourth-placed visitors Thirsk, while second-placed Mosborough would have to triumph at third-placed Knaresborough.

“If Mosborough field the same side that they played against us in October they could win but a lot depends on Knaresborough’s attitude and whether they want to go up.”

Wibsey are without Dave Wilkinson, Adam Armitage (both at a christening), Chris Partridge (hernia) and Jon Nall (unavailable), but are still choosing from 22 as they continue their bid to finally get out of the bottom tier.

Club chairman and team manager Steve Brooke said: “We thought we had done it before (got promotion from the lowest tier) but then they got rid of Yorkshire Division Six and we ended up playing the same clubs again the following season.

“We don’t want that to happen if we get promotion this season as we want a stronger fixture list that lasts for the whole season.”

BAILDON, who won their first seven matches in Yorkshire Division Three but have lost five of their last eight, are still in second place ahead of a vital home match against third-placed Halifax Vandals, who are two points behind but have a game in hand.

Injured Baildon half-back Robbie Hill said: "A few of the lads looked pretty tired after the Northallerton game (which Baildon lost 29-16 away on December 17) but hopefully we can hit the ground running after the festive break and pick up the momentum that we had earlier in the season."
