8:21pm Tuesday 27th December 2011 in Bradford Salem By Bill Marshall
Bradford Salem 22, Baildon 17
Baildon’s Tom Crane has been detained in hospital after suffering a neck injury during their derby at Bradford Salem yesterday.
The injury meant a 45-minute delay to the start of the second half while Crane was treated and taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
“Tom was cleared out of a ruck and fell awkwardly,” explained Baildon’s rugby chairman Andy Whitley.
“It is the third time in 12 months that he has been hospitalised but we haven’t any news of a CT scan as that particular team were on holiday.”
Baildon opened the scoring with a try by JJ O’Connell but were 17-7 behind at half-time after tries by Salem second-string captain Jamie Symons, centre Dom Ram and winger Amesh Ahir, Ian Woodwiss adding a conversion.
Tries by Baildon’s head coach Dave Duxbury and his son Jake levelled the scores, only for Salem to win it on the last play of the game, former Baildon No 8 Paul Dobson getting the touchdown.
