BRADFORD SALEM seem to be sliding closer to the precipice every week.

Having lost eight out of their last nine matches in Yorkshire Division One – they haven’t won since beating Wheatley Hills on November 11, although they did have a creditable 21-21 home draw against Scarborough – Salem are just two places and three points above a relegation berth.

Having beaten cellar dwellers Hills three months ago, Salem were in ninth, ten points clear of danger.

But the usual problems of injuries and unavailability have plagued them since, and although their hosts Moortown are only two places above them tomorrow, they are a massive 19 points ahead of Salem.

When you are down among the dead men, injuries do seem to be a factor, and Salem are missing full back Danny Belcher and may be without centre Harry Hall due to concussion.

However, naming what is still a strong squad of 21 for a change, they do have tonsillitis sufferers James Simpson and Will Collins back at scrum half and prop respectively, with the versatile Conor Wood available again, with Matt Booth (pictured) a possible returnee at fly half.

BAILDON, who are in greater need of wins than Salem if they are to stay in Yorkshire Division Three, are at Leeds Medics & Dentists.

Having lost 28-17 last week at home to Knottingley, Baildon’s player-coach Robbie Hill said: “We were all over them in the last 20 minutes, but need to be more clinical in their 22.”

Baildon must try and win, however, without experienced duo Nicky Lister and Marcus Dracup.
