WIBSEY, who won their first two matches this season in Yorkshire Division Four North West but have lost two of their last five, have trodden a well worn path in terms of recruitment.

The Villagers, who are handily placed in their bid to reach the Super 8s, when the top four teams from their division are joined by the leading quartet from the parallel South East section, have signed rugby league duo Aiden Batey and Nat Light.

Batey has just completed an outstanding season in helping Bradford Dudley Hill win promotion from Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Two via the play-offs, while Light was part of the West Bowling squad that won Division Three.

Light is part of a 23-man squad for the third-placed club that have been named to face second-placed visitors Burley at Northfield Road on Saturday, but Batey will not be available until next weekend.

Also missing for Wibsey are influential quintet James Brown (knee), Luke Helliwell (ankle), James Birkbeck (ankle and calf), Danny Carr and Michael Kite.

With Christian Baines injured and Andy Robinson unavailable, Bradford Salem have yet to decide who wears the captain's armband at home to leaders York in Yorkshire Division One.

Flanker Callum Manchester returns for the hosts after a knee injury, while prop Tom O'Sullivan is back after suspension.

Keighley, who are tenth, one place and two points below Salem, host Old Rishworthians, who are on the same points as Keighley.

The latter officially open their artificial grass pitch on Saturday, December 16, when Selby are the visitors.
