Baildon clinch third place
6:02pm Sunday 22nd April 2012 in Baildon By Andy Whitley
Prop Pete Lowth set Baildon on their way with an early try
Baildon 13, Sheffield Medics 10
Baildon, who gave an excellent defensive display, registered their 14th consecutive league win yesterday to secure third place in SSE Yorkshire Division Three.
The Jenny Laners scored all their points inside 20 minutes of the start, including a try from Pete Lowth, who latched on to a short pass following an excellent break by fly half Nicky Lister.
The latter added the conversion followed by two well-struck penalties on 15 and 20 minutes to put his side in the driving seat but Medics hit back with a penalty on 23 minutes, followed by a converted interception try six minutes later.
In a scoreless second half, the Jenny Laners were pinned in their own half for long periods and in the end it was Baildon’s defensive qualities and fitness which saw them through and kept intact a home unbeaten record which stretches back to October.
