CALF injuries have had a significant effect on Bradford Salem's team to face Yorkshire Division One leaders Bridlington on Saturday.

Both flanker Ethan Perkins and centre Dave Pearce have succumbed to them, but director of rugby Sam Gardner has recovered from a similar affliction and returns to the second row.

Also back on the bench is physio Louis Chaudron, but Salem, who had a heart-warming 30-27 home win over York last weekend, are also without lock James Cunliffe and flanker or centre Conor Wood, while No 8 Christian Baines could be a late withdrawal as his partner is being induced.

Third-placed Keighley are taking the loss of influential No 8 Josh Hannah in their stride.

He strained a medial ligament in the fourth minute of their 19-5 home victory over Scarborough last weekend and is likely to miss this weekend's match at tenth-placed Selby and next weekend's fixture at home to York.

"One man's loss is another man's opportunity," said forwards' coach Hamish Pratt, who is himself having to bide his time in terms of getting back into a side who have won their last four matches.

Head coach Danny McGee said: "We had worked hard in training and put in a rounded performance.

"But it was a game we were just glad to win, rather than think about a four-try bonus point.

"However, our back row of Leigh Sugden, Tom Lowther, Shaun Minikin and Lucas Uren played particularly well, and Alex Brown's kicking for position was as good as it has been all season."

Baildon, who won their first seven matches in Yorkshire Division Three but have lost their last two, aim to get back on the winning path at Wensleydale.

"Both Knottingley and Old Otliensians deserved to win," said Baildon coach Andy Pollard, who gives Matty Dixon a start at hooker in place of Dale Tabiner, and also has Will Craven and Josh Strauss returning.
