WHARFEDALE'S heavy defeat at home to Stourbridge last Saturday showed the importance of concentration.

Head coach James Doherty wasn't at the 45-10 National League Two North reverse at The Avenue due to school commitments, but he said: "I have watched it on video and we were good in many parts.

"Don't get me wrong, Stourbridge are a very good side, but we started well – the first 20 minutes were very even – and played well in the third quarter.

"The commitment and effort was good, but we paid for a lack of concentration four or five times in those 80 minutes, and they took advantage. and that is what I have been drumming into the players at training this week."

Doherty added: "Tom Barrett kicked well out of hand and we created more opportunities for tries than we have in our first three matches, but our kick-chase was poor."

Wharfedale are bottom of the table with a solitary point from four matches, and next up for the Greens are away matches against Sheffield (Saturday) and Chester (a week on Saturday).

Sheffield are next-to-bottom with three points, while Chester are five places higher with nine points.

Some people within the Dalesmen are calling these winnable games, but Doherty isn't falling into that trap.

He said: "There are no easy games in this division."

Wharfedale change both of their centres, bringing in Joel Gill and promoting Tom Davidson off the bench in place of Ben Booth and Will Lawn.

Ralph Wellock is on the wing for Josh Prell, and Tom Asejevs starts in the front row instead of Joe Altham.

James Tyson returns to the back row in place of the London-bound Jack Barnard, and Jake Parkinson, Tom Whyte and Jordan Annette take up three of the five places on the bench, where Stevie Graham and Jim Mason are retained.
