Otley only need to win at lowly Waterloo on Saturday to be sure of the National League Two title.
However, Otley's head coach Mark Luffman is warning of the dangers of facing an underdog.
"It reminds me of when we went to Bristol in December 2004 - the season Bristol went back into the Premiership.
"We lost 23-11 but gave our best performance of the season and, particularly as Waterloo lost 20-7 against already-relegated Halifax last week, they won't want us to win the title on their ground on Saturday.
"I am expecting a difficult encounter. However, having achieved our main objective of being promoted, there is still the unfinished business of winning the title."
Luffman added: "We have had a very competitive squad and are planning to make one or two changes just to freshen things up a bit.
"Hopefully the players that come in will give us a bit more energy."
