Otley turn down artificial grass

By Bill Marshall

Otley have put their foot down about playing on an artificial pitch on Saturday.

They are at Blackheath in National League One, who have access to a rubberised-crumb surface.

However, the match could only be switched from grass to the more modern surface if Otley agree, and their secretary Marc Lawrence said today: “We haven’t agreed.”

Hopefully it won’t come to that as the Kent side are optimistic that the thaw will be sufficient for the sides to face each other on grass.

All games at Cross Green are off, and Otley will await a pitch inspection at midday tomorrow at Blackheath.
