It looked like Cleckheaton would go out on a high at half-time in their final game of the season only for visitors Liverpool-St Helens to come away 34-19 winners.

The hosts led 19-15 at the break and started well with a try from Ross Hayden in the corner after three minutes.

Liverpool replied with a try from captain Phil Kearns, with Jeff Foulkes converting.

In the tenth minute, Liverpool's Mark Dickinson crossed the line in the corner after the ball was worked across field, and a penalty from Dickinson put the visitors 15-5 up.

Cleck hit back when Hayden was sent in at the corner for a converted try after the backs pushed forward in the 18th minute.

They were unlucky to have a pass judged forward soon afterwards but James Walker made up for it when he crossed and Hayden converted.

Cleck's hopes nose-dived after the break, starting when Mark Sergeant was sin-binned. A minute later, Alex Isherwood went under the posts for the away side and Foulkes converted.

Tom Lauriston was unlucky not to break through in the 58th minute for the Bradford side, while Joe South had to make a try-saving tackle on Liverpool's Anthony Harden at the other end.

Liverpool added a controversial score with what appeared to be a double movement before a try from Ashley Stuart in the 71st minute sealed victory.
