COMMITMENT is a key word in any sport, but Martin Whitcombe has realised that it ain't what it used to be.

Bradford & Bingley's director of rugby has consistently been forced to make four or five changes a week to his team, which has done nothing for stability or continuity.

Whitcombe said: "It frustrates me. Commitment is not what it was when I was younger.

"If people are going to a stag do or a wedding, why do they have to set off at noon? Why can't they go after the match?"

Ironically, Whitcombe's team, who face a key match at home to Huddersfield YMCA tomorrow as they bid to stave off relegation from North One East, are likely to be little changed.

The Bees, who are just two points above the drop zone – two of the four clubs below them, West Hartlepool and Penrith, have a game in hand – could be without centre Dennis Tuffour, but player-coach Ali Macdonald is expected to step in to partner rugby league legend Fuifui Moimoi.

Experienced prop Roger Raper could also come into the equation, but it may be a bit early for winger James Morton, who has thankfully been given the all-clear to resume playing after a heart scare and has already played twice for the second team.

Cleckheaton paid a heavy price for having full back James Wilson sin-binned last week at Alnwick, conceding 14 points while he was off the field and five more soon after he came back on in a 41-26 loss.

"The yellow card was a massive factor as when they got past our initial defence there was just no cover and we were scrambling" said Cleckheaton's player-coach Thiu Barnard, "but our attitude throughout was first class and our general performance was good."

Cleckheaton have full back Mikey Hayward and winger Lee Queeley returning for the home match against Dinnington, who are one of the quartet below the Bees.

Cleckheaton (home to Dinnington): M Hayward; L Queeley, M Swetman, Matt Piper, J Wilson; R Evans, J Bickerdike; P Turner, J Crowther, A Piper, R Piercy, T Barnard, J Carley, J Seddon, J Plunkett. Replacements: B Thrower, B Marsden, P Foulstone.
