Bees fail to make use of the elements
Bradford & Bingley 19, Macclersfield 24
Macclesfield did their
National League Three North survival hopes a power of good with this victory yesterday but Bradford & Bingley paid the penalty for not making use of the conditions in the first half.
They could only manage a try by hooker James Whitfield in the 35th minute, having gone behind to a converted effort five minutes previously.
After the dour affair that was the first half, the game opened up after the restart and could have gone either way.
A second converted try extended Macclesfield's advantage to 14-5 in the 47th minute but Jarred Warren's try and a Tom Rhodes conversion six
minutes later brought the Bees right back into it.
Four minutes later, the Cheshire visitors bagged a third converted try but Rhodes' try and conversion in the 62nd minute meant the deficit was back to two points.
However, a penalty in the final minute extended Macclesfield's lead to five.
