As a result of their improved form last season, Wibsey might no longer be in Yorkshire’s bottom division next season.
In a draft document, which has yet to be ratified by the RFU Competitions Committee, they have been placed in Yorkshire Division Five – one division above newly-formed duo Otley Knights and Halifax Vikings.
However, Wibsey’s secretary Paul Garside admitted: “We are trying to get our placing altered as our division currently involves more travelling and it is difficult to get a team to go to long- distance away matches.”
Cleckheaton, who are in National Three North along with Halifax and Morley, have appointed Dave Harrison as their head coach.
He replaces John Dudley and Doug Trivella, who left the club before the end of last season.
Harrison has been assistant coach at Moorend before – both under John Bentley and Craig West.
Bentley, meanwhile, will be back at Moorend next season – but without a title.
“He wants to get himself fit and is happy to help out where needed without the pressure of having a specific role,” said club spokesman Alan Bentley.
